Seeking Marketing & Branding Consultant for Downtown Olympia Creative District

About the Olympia Artspace Alliance: 

The Olympia Artspace Alliance (OAA) is a volunteer-led non profit organization established in 2011 to preserve, develop, and advocate for affordable live, work, and exhibition space for artists in the South Puget Sound.

Position Purpose:

The Creative District is a 30-block area of downtown Olympia that is home to over 150 creative enterprises such as theaters, performance spaces, galleries, breweries, and industrial designers. It is also home to many artists, creatives, and independent businesses that support the arts as an economic driver in Olympia’s downtown core. The City of Olympia selected OAA to provide administrative and programming services for the Creative District.  The marketing and branding consultant will, as described below, assist OAA in meeting its responsibilities to the city for the Creative District.

We seek a candidate that is well-positioned in the Olympia arts community who can develop a comprehensive use and style guide for the Creative District that captures the distinctive and independent artistic energy of Olympia. The creative product is intended to inform future marketing and branding projects related to the Creative District. 

This contract position will work independently with the support and coordination of OAA leadership and board. This work will be primarily remote, with regular check ins via zoom and in person and additional meetings as needed. 

Scope of Work: 

  • Developing a style guide for the Creative District including the creation of a logo.  The style/use guide will also need to include signage that will convey key messaging and assets. These assets will be delivered to the City of Olympia but the contractor will not be responsible for implementation.  

Budget: 

Total compensation for this project is $5000 with a timeline of June 1st to August 31st, 2024.

Additional Information & Requirements:

  • Candidate must have access to technology and be able to deliver files in Adobe Illustrator (AI)

  • While not required, our ideal candidate will be a resident of the South Puget Sound.

  • We will consider individuals, teams, and organizations to accomplish this work. 

  • Applicants do not need to have a business license or business insurance to apply for this opportunity, but please note that this work will incur a 1099 and the contractor will be responsible for all taxes and fees.
