We will put your gift to work in our communities. The OAA:

• Advocates for the arts: OAA advocates for artists and opportunities for artists in our community. We attend city council meetings and work sessions, facilitate paid contract work for artists, promote local culture and opportunity, and advocate for inclusion of different artistic styles and expressions. We are committed to compensating artists, while also building a culture of compensation and appreciation for the arts.

• Creates opportunity: OAA invests in projects that create opportunities for artists in our community. "Art in Olympia Storefronts," our longest running project, is an ongoing series of temporary art installations in the storefront windows of vacant buildings in downtown Olympia. We have invested in improvements to the Goldberg Building on 4th and Capitol to create a well-lit, high-quality gallery setting. Selected artists receive a stipend for installation, as well as coaching and technical assistance in curating and hanging their work.

• Engages youth: We partner with local school teachers each winter to create a student-led installation and have partnered with college students to exhibit their work in downtown Olympia.

• Practices grant-making: We launched "Space Grants" in 2021 as a low-barrier grant program to assist Thurston County artists with the rising cost of studio space, and provided four artists with $500 grants. We are committed to growing Space Grants in 2023.

• Partners: We are currently partnering with the City of Olympia for creation of two new murals in the downtown core, and for the repair of damaged murals. We are serving as fiscal agent for participating artists to reach artists that could not apply under previous requirements.

Donating is a great way to show your support for the efforts of the Olympia Artspace Alliance: helping the arts and artists of Olympia thrive through the creation of space to live and work. We utilize community contributions to fund our programs, provide artist stipends - our projects compensate artists and contributors, and for general operations.
